Will jazz styled singing, help with my singing voice? PLZ help.?

There's a jazz school closeby to where i live and my dad seems
interested in putting me in the program. I want to improve my voice
(i'm an amateur). Jazz singing seems like a good start in my opinion,
because i think that it will help me with singing high notes, low
notes, and it will help me develop more feeling while i sing. I just
really want to improve. Is jazz a good genre of music to start out
with? I'm hoping i can work with this teacher. She seems like she's
really talented:
